INCOME-BASED SCHOLARSHIP
Guidance College offers income-based scholarships to help students who demonstrate financial need pursue their education.
Because the College is an Islamic private, nonprofit institution, scholarship funds are limited and must be awarded fairly
and responsibly.
IMPORTANT: Scholarship deadlines must be followed for the semester. Otherwise, the application will be forwarded to the next
award semester pending funds available.
WHO MAY APPLY?
You may apply for an income-based scholarship if:
- Your household’s annual income is $50,000 or less
- You submit all required financial documentation
- Funds are available for the academic term
Students with household income above $50,000 are not eligible for this scholarship.
WHAT ARE THE SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS?
- Recipients of Income Based Financial Aid will receive $100.00 scholarship for the first semester in which they are awarded the aid.
Thereafter, for each semester in which a student maintains a 3.0 GPA and successfully completes their current semester course work,
the scholarship will increase by $50.00 until the max per course is $225.00. - Recipients of Income Based Financial Aid may elect to take only one course during the first semester in which they are awarded the
scholarship. Thereafter, upon successful completion of semester coursework and with a GPA of at least 3.0, students must register
for and enroll in at least two courses per semester. - Recipients will receive $150.00 per course.
- The $15.00 technology fee is not included in Income Based Financial Aid.
- Auditors may be considered for income-based scholarships based on financial need and other extenuating circumstances.
HOW IS ELIGIBILITY DETERMINED?
Scholarship decisions are based on:
- Maintaining a 3.0 semester GPA
- Household income
- Documented financial hardship (if applicable)
- Completion and accuracy of required documents
All applications are reviewed using the same evaluation criteria to ensure fairness.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Applicants are required to submit the previous year’s income tax return
- A recent federal tax return or non-filer statement attested by
- A household size statement
Incomplete applications cannot be reviewed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In certain cases, additional information may be required. These could include:
- Household size
- Employment status
DISTRIBUTION FACTORS?
Scholarship amounts vary and depend on:
- Level of financial need
- Available funding
- Number of applicants
Scholarships are not guaranteed.
DURATION AND RENEWAL
Income-based scholarships:
- Are awarded for one academic term or academic year
- Must be reapplied for each year
- Require updated income documentation for renewal consideration
Renewal is not automatic.
CAN A NON-ELIGIBLE DECISION BE APPEALED?
Applicants may request reconsideration based on:
- Documented errors
- New or corrected information
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Scholarships do not need to be repaid.
- Awards may be reduced or canceled if financial information is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Providing false or misleading information may result in loss of eligibility.

OVERSIGHT AND ACCOUNTABILITY
- The Board retains fiduciary oversight of scholarship policies.
- Administrative responsibility rests with the President & CEO or designee.
- The Office of Institutional Effectiveness monitors consistency, equity, and compliance.
POLICY AND REVIEW CYCLE
This policy shall be reviewed no less than every three years, or sooner if required by:
- Accreditation standards
- Regulatory changes
- Institutional financial conditions
